If a manufacturer needs to recall a vehicle which has been found to have a defect which effects safety, it will contact the Vehicle & Operators Agency (VOSA) in the UK who will the give it a unique recall number. This number will be sent to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) if the manufacturer needs vehicle keeper information.
However, it very rarely happens that an owner in Cyprus is informed. It is therefore important that owners make the check themselves regularly. This database has fault recalls from 1992.
Should the fault be judged as suitable for rectification on next service, it may not be put on this database. This means that there may be potentially dangerous vehicles that are not recalled.
Click on the above link and you can search for vehicle recalls by vehicle make and model, date of recall, or a combination of both on the VOSA website.
Click on the above link and you can search for vehicle recalls in the EU by entering 'vehicles' or something more specific in the search box. The site provides information on dangerous consumer products, with the exception of food, pharmaceutical and medical devices.
There are a number of private and corporation websites that list vehicle recalls. If you hear of one let me know and I will add it to this list.
