Six officers from the Police Traffic Department in Nicosia attended Paphos Divisional Headquarters for the start of an Advanced Driving Course.
The Officers, in the main, were responsible for patrolling the Highway out from Nicosia. The course included supervisors and a lone motorcyclist.
The course takes in quite a lot of theory and this provoked, as it had in the previous courses, a lot of well thought out questions from the students.
Although we have a timetable, it is flexible. This is so that the classroom work can be extended if necessary to enable the students to fully understand points raised during a lecture.
We have been impressed with the caliber of the officers in that they are receptive and eager to learn. The improvement in their driving is marked.
On test day three Officers achieved the A Grade and three the B. However we always set the standard of the B grade very high so to attain that takes a lot of effort. We are confident that with a bit
more practice all of them will be able to attain the higher grade.
Refresher Course - April 2005
The Police Driving School, having completed their advanced course in 2004, returned for a weeks refresher. Another bout of hard work ensured that all of the officers who attended were able to attain
or retain their A Grades.
